Outstanding HSC result by Vice Captain Ian Hopkins

Hunters Hill High School would like to acknowledge the remarkable achievement of Ian Hopkins, the 2013 Vice-Captain, for receiving outstanding HSC results. Ian achieved band 6 in all of his courses, which included English (Advanced), General Mathematics, Business Studies, Economics and Ancient History, resulting in an ATAR of 99.25.

Ian has attended Hunters Hill High School for the past six years and has shown commitment to both the school and the local community. He has demonstrated strong leadership skills, acting as Vice-Captain. Ian's many positive qualities –exemplar student, talented sportsman and dedicated school captain -were recognised at Hunters Hill High School's annual Presentation Day held on the 11th December, where Ian was awarded the prestigious Professor Marie Bashir Citizenship Award, the highest individual award in the school, as well as Best Senior All Rounder.

Ian has expressed feeling ‘still in shock', as well as ‘very satisfied'. He has broadened his choices for university courses, which include Medicine and Commerce, and is excited to make some very significant decisions for his future. His success has not deterred him from his humble and courteous nature.

When asked to reflect on the past year and offer advice to future students, he remarked that ‘balance' and ‘being happy' was extremely important. Ian worked casually, played sport, went out with friends and revised for the HSC. He strongly believes that ‘not giving up on anything' and ‘remaining committed to short, but effective study routines' enabled him to sit all of his exams with confidence.

Hunters Hill High School and its local community would like to congratulate Ian for his outstanding and well-deserving achievement. The congratulations extend to Ian's family, whose ongoing support, stability and love is an important aspect of his success. We wish Ian all the best in his future endeavours.
