Study Skills Seminar with ‘Learn 4 Life’

The Study Skills Seminar for Year 11 that took place on the 21st August proved a great success. The aim of the seminar was to provide students with valuable skills for study by equipping them with time management and stress relief skills and providing them with new and varying study skills to utilise in their Yearly Examinations later this term, as well as better manage their HSC year starting next term.

The seminar covered the following:

  • How to be motivated and how to increase independent learning
  • How to effectively manage an increased workload through revision
  • Increase confidence and preparation for study
  • How to cope with stress

Here are some testimonials from the students themselves:

  • Everything we did was interactive, engaging and relevant to me right now. All of it will be useful in the future. Jemma. C.

  • The seminar conducted today was extremely helpful and taught me some useful skills for studying and exams, making revision much less daunting! Lisa. C.

  • I wish I'd learnt this earlier! It was very helpful and I am definitely going to put these skills into use. I learnt about Indented hierarchies, mind maps and how to manage time, stress/anxiety and procrastination. Very helpful! Ciara. Mc

  • I have really learnt a lot about better techniques when studying, compressing information and taking notes was helpful. This will be very valuable when studying for my HSC. The structure of this course was perfect. Antonio. G.

  • This seminar today has very much influenced me to wake up and get focussed on what is to come soon. Today helped me in ways of approaching the challenges I face in the future in an organised and beneficial way. Alexander. A.

  • Offered other ways of studying which is useful. Josh. K.

Following the intensive 4.5 hours seminar, the students enjoyed a bbq lunch on the school oval organised by Mr Gane and Year 12.
