2014 School Captains Report

As the Graduating Class of 2014 finishes their high school career, the four school captain reflect on their time as leaders of Hunters Hill High School and the legacy they will be leaving behind for all current and future students.

A year filled with strength, laughter and progress is a year considered most memorable.

As captains, our motivation placed upon the importance of students' well-being, the desire for a unified body and the opportunity to guide Hunters Hill High School into its 56th year of comprehensive education was an exhilarating and emotional journey, one that brought success and an immense sense of pride to each of us.

Participating in transitional programs for both parents and students in ‘Top of the Hill' and ‘Stepping Stones', we saw an opportunity to take advantage of the school's values and strong identity and broaden the social spectrum into surrounding primary schools as well as the community. Whilst accepting several responsibilities such as hosting special assemblies to coordinating Presentation Day, we also met a degree of freedom and individuality, where we were able to initiate a blood drive for the Red Cross. Many of its willing participants from the school gained exposure in the local papers, raising awareness for the charitable cause.

The year also consisted of several more intimate highlights, such as meeting Ms. Michele Bruniges, Secretary Department of Education and Communities, and having the privilege to host the assembly of the official renaming of the school hall in honour of Phil Daniels.

Despite such efforts, it was the year we came to grasp the essence of leadership; the discovery of what one can give back to a school that so fortunately shaped them into the person they are today, with skills we hope to put forward in the future. Reflecting back, our contributions are merely one of many, ones which stem from a profound passion for the school, as piece by piece we add to the puzzle of what truly makes Hunters Hill High flourish.
