Open Day Success

On Saturday 28th February, Hunters Hill High School welcomed many hundreds of visitors through its
gates in order to showcase the culture, facilities and programs it has on offer.

The day commenced with the school concert band performing a selection of pieces. Band members
were accompanied by primary school students who had attended the annual Primary Schools Music
Workshop hosted by Hunters Hill High School just two days earlier. It was a real treat! Guests also
enjoyed a visual feast, an array of selected artworks from the Creative and Performing Arts students.
This was followed by the formalities of the day hosted by the 2015 school captains Samantha Warren
and Christopher Cheeseman. The formalities included insightful contributions from the school Principal
Ms Judith Felton, parent representative Ms Penny Roxon and two of the school's newest members, Year
7 students, Harrison Straw and Emma Stowers. Each speaker revealed the genuinely supportive learning environment and the value of public education in helping to shape the quietly shining stars at Hunters Hill High School.

Proof of these words was evident throughout the day; friendly student helpers guided their guests
around the stunning riverside grounds and the refurbished facilities, introducing them to the proud
teachers and assisting in each faculty's interactive displays and activities. Costumes and props in
the Creative and Performing Arts photo booth, Black Out poetry competitions in the English faculty,
information treasure hunts and chess battles in the library and wacky experiments in the Science
laboratories. As well as all the fun, Hunters Hill High School Open Days are a prime opportunity for
prospective parents and students to have a chance to ask questions, meet the teaching and executive
staff and get a greater understanding of the broad curricula offerings of their local government high
school.

If you missed out this year be sure to add Hunters Hill High School's 2016 Open Day to your
planning calendar.
