Our school uses the department's School Community Charter to ensure all of our communication is collaborative and respectful.
Attendance and absences
Students must attend school regularly so they can achieve their educational best and increase their career and life options.
In NSW, all children from the age of 6 are legally required to attend school or be registered for home schooling through the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). All students must complete Year 10, or its equivalent.
Young people below the age of 17 who have completed Year 10 must be:
in school, or registered for home schooling
in approved education or training, such as a traineeship, apprenticeship or TAFE
in full-time paid employment (average 25 hours a week)
in a combination of work, education and/or training (average of 25 hours a week combined).
Students 17 years and over who are enrolled in school must attend school regularly to meet HSC course requirements.
As a parent or carer, you are responsible for ensuring your child attends school every day when they are of compulsory school age. You must explain all absences to the school within 7 days.

Our School’s Code of Conduct
As drawn up by the school body, this is our code of conduct.
To strive for excellence and the best possible education.
- I will need to discipline myself to attend all my classes to learn all I can, to co-operate with the teachers and to participate in the activities of the school.
To strive for a safe and hygienic environment.
- I will need to act in a safe and sensible way that will not endanger me and/or others: including not smoking, drinking alcohol or taking drugs. I will also need to maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and help to keep the school clean and beautiful at all times.
To always respect other people and their rights.
- I will need to be considerate and supportive of others and respect their right to learn. Bullying, teasing, abusive behaviour and interfering with other people's property have no place in our school.
To respect our school.
- I will need to help keep the classrooms, furniture and grounds of the school in good order. Damaging school property and defacing text books have no place in our school.

Mobile Phones, Headphones and other electronic devices
NSW Department of Education high schools are phone free for students. The NSW Government has announced restrictions on the use of mobile phones in NSW schools beginning in Term 4, 2023.
At Hunters Hill High School this means no phones, including during break times. Phones are off, locked and away. Attached is our updated phone policy.
If a student does bring a mobile phone or other electronic device to school, it is on the following understanding:
- Mobile phones are not to be seen in the classroom or on the school grounds. They are to remain switched off and inside the students' bag. These are not to be carried in pockets.
- HHHS accepts no responsibility for the security of mobile phones - if a student brings a mobile phone to school, then they are responsible for its appropriate use and safe keeping
- There are consequences for the use of mobile phones or other electronic devices.
