Ski Retreat 2015 Report

On the 30th July, 71 excited HHHS Students and 5 teachers headed off on our 9th annual Ski Retreat.
Similar to previous years, the Ski Retreat involved staying at the Snowy Mountain Inn at Berridale and 3 days skiing or snowboarding at Perisher Blue Resort.
On our first day skiing, we were blessed by beautiful weather and outstanding snow conditions. These conditions were perfect for our diverse range of skiing abilities.
Each day began with a 2 hour skiing/boarding lesson, followed by lots of free time to explore the ski resorts on offer. Day 1 conditions allowed our experienced skiers to venture to Blue Cow, Mt Perisher and Guthega. Our advanced skiers returned with exciting stories and great go-pro footage from exhilarating black runs such as ‘Olympic', ‘Accelerator' and ‘Kamikaze'.
The outstanding conditions were also fantastic for our large group of first-timers. The novice skiers and boarders excelled following their lessons and had a wonderful day exploring Smiggins Holes and learning to ride the chair life, T bars and j bars.
Unfortunately the weather conditions deteriorated the following day and created a much more challenging environment. Despite the wind and rain, our students still remained enthusiastic and tackled the wind and rain with positivity.
The weather conditions improved on the 3rd day, with a substantial drop in wind speed. Our skiers still battled some rain; however, continued to show their resilience and not allow the rain to dampen their spirits.
I'd like to extend a thank you to all the students, families and teachers who made this trip successful. Our students were once again, outstanding ambassadors for Hunters Hill High School. Throughout this trip I was highly impressed our students conduct, teamwork and enthusiasm.
Overall, the 2015 Ski Retreat was once again a highly successful initiative. The positive feedback and thankfulness from our students is appreciated and has encouraged me to offer this opportunity again in 2016, which will be our 10th consecutive Ski Retreat.
